Education is a key charitable remit of the Border Union Agricultural Society. In January 2026 the role of Education and Careers Coordinator was created to develop existing activities and explore new ones, especially our core education event the Border Union Schools Countryside Day. The role is to provide children, teenagers and young adults with good quality, impartial careers education and advice in agriculture, land-based occupations and the rural economy, and is supported by the Margaret Carlaw Charitable Trust.
If you would like to be part of other Agricultural & Rural careers events that we will be holding around the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland then please contact jac@borderunion.co.uk or call the Border Union office on 01573 224188.
The Society held it’s first ever Careers Event, in conjunction with Developing the Young Workforce, at the Border Union Show on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th July. Information was available on the stand about the wide range of careers in the rural sector throughout the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland. Spotlight talks were held on the stand during the two days of the show.
