Sheep

The Border Union Agricultural Show has a large and varied sheep sections which, in 2019, totalled nearly 1,000 animals including Border Leicester, Suffolk, Cheviot, NCC, Lairg type Cheviot, Blackface, Bluefaced Leicester, Texel, Scotch Half Bred, Scotch Mule, Non MV Suffolks, Non MV Texels, Jacob, Shetland, Lleyn, Zwartble and Hebridean. Our Prime Lambs and Young Handler Classes are increasing in popularity. In 2019 and 2023, our reserve Champion was selected from the sheep section.

Many of our exhibitors return to our Border Union Ram Sales later in the year.

Cattle

We are delighted to welcome some of the finest animals in the country to our Cattle Sections. Our sections usually include Aberdeen Angus, Native Beef Breeds, Continental Beef Breeds and Young Handler Classes. In 2022, our Champion of Champions came from the Cattle section.

Horses and Donkeys

The Show has a range of classes for Horses, Ponies and Donkeys including Mountain and Moorland Ridden and In-Hand, First Ridden and Lead Rein, Riding Ponies, Hunter Pony Breeding, Coloured Horses, Working Hunter Ponies, Hunters, Riding Horses, Side Saddle, RoR and Heavy Horses, amongst NPS qualifiers and various others. in 2019, third place in the Champion of Champion was selected from the Donkey Section.

In 2024 we will also be hosting unaffiliated classes on Friday
